RE: Congratulations Announcement - 2007 Phoenix Awards

Dear Mikkel Anderson:

Congratulations! The Phoenix Awards(TM) Executive Committee and I are extremely pleased to inform you that your revitalization project, Former NASA/Downey Industrial Plant Project, has been selected as the 2007 Region 9 Phoenix Award Winner!

We are proud to honor your group who, with all its hard work, used innovative and creative techniques to revitalize blighted, contaminated lands to a productive, new use. Your project is an excellent model for other communities and groups to replicate, and we are pleased to acknowledge your project with this premiere environmental award. This year, one Phoenix Award winner was selected from each of the EPA's 10 regions. In addition, one winner was selected for a "Community Impact Award" that recognize participants for their exceptional community impact, and one Phoenix Award winner was selected for special recognition as a "UST Award." A Grand Prize Winner and 1st Runner-up Winner will be selected from among all the chosen winners, and during the conference, conference attendees will cast a vote for a project that merits our "People's Choice Award."

As a 2007 Phoenix Award winner, your work will be honored at the National Brownfield's Conference, Brownfields 2008, at the Cobo Center, One Washington Boulevard, Detroit, Michigan during May 5-7, 2008. We hope you and other project participants will attend to receive your beautiful crystal Phoenix Award trophy at the Phoenix Awards Plenary Ceremony, join us at the Phoenix Awards VIP Reception, share your project at the Phoenix Awards Panel Sessions, and meet other brownfield redevelopment colleagues and Phoenix Award winners at this exciting event. We will follow up with additional information about these activities to share with your project participants. In the meantime, you may learn more about the conference and register at www.brownfields2008.org.

The Phoenix Awards(TM) are affiliated with the Phoenix Awards Institute, Inc., an environmental and community service foundation, located in Mechanicsburg, PA. Created in 1997, this prestigious award honors individuals and groups who are working to solve the critical environmental issue of transforming abandoned industrial areas into productive new uses.

The Phoenix Awards(TM) Executive Committee, the Phoenix Awards team and I look forward to meeting you at Brownfields 2008. Thank you for being a part of The Phoenix Awards(TM) program this year.

Kindest regards,
Denise K. Chamberlain
Executive Committee Chair
